Valentine's Day on a Dime: Signed, Sealed, Delivered - I'm Yours

Maybe writing your loved one a poem isn't your thing, but I don't know anyone who can't write a love letter! Honestly - even if you think you won't be any "good" at it, just remember - it isn't about YOU. It is about honestly expressing your feelings about someone else. Whether you write your spouse a love letter or jot down a few endearing words for your children to treasure, here are some tips from ThinkMarriage.org that should help you out.  They even have great love letter templates to make your presentation extra special!

  • Clear your desk & mind of distractions. If you love someone enough to craft this letter, he or she deserves your full attention.
  • Place a picture of the one you love in front of you & put on some mood music.
  • On a different sheet of paper, make two lists: a) the unique qualities you love about him/her; b) your hopes for the future together.
  • Start with a clean sheet of letter paper.  In the body of the love letter, begin by telling him/her what you think makes him/her so special. Try to list at least three different qualities of the one you love in the letter.  To make it more personal, be specific.
  • Follow up with a paragraph sharing your hopes and dreams for the future you can have together. Don't be afraid to use some lines from some of your favorite love song or literature - even quote Scripture. Share the real you and end with a loving thought.
  • Send your letter!

Last year, Chris took these guidelines and wrote me one of the most treasured and tender love letters.  It made me feel like the only girl in the world - so special and loved.  I have the letter tucked in with my cookbooks - I know, that might seem like an odd place, but I see it everyday during the most hectic part of my day ... the end, when I'm making dinner, feeling tired, and not remembering how much I'm worth to him.  It always makes me smile and reminds me of how much he appreciates me.
