The Shower Hug Review & Special Offer

I was recently able to review a new product for mom-to-be and new moms from Belmama & Cherub called the Shower Hug.  At first glance, I was very excited to learn more and try out this cool new invention for myself!  It is a very soft towel/blanket material that can be wrapped around you and velcroed into place.  The main purpose of the Shower Hug is to help support and protect the most tender areas for expectant and new moms - especially if you're breastfeeding!

I could definitely have used this item with my last two pregnancies, but am glad that I have discovered it now - better late than never!  The Shower Hug is incredibly soft!!  I wanted to snuggle up with it immediately when I took it out of the the cute little gift package!  I love that they let you choose what color border to have it around it (pink or blue), and they have two different main options for you (Original or Earth Friendly).  They don't just sell shower hugs in their online store, either - you can buy wash clothes, burp clothes, or bundled sets.  I wish they sold baby blankets in that material!

I have used the Shower Hug a few times over the past two weeks and have mixed feelings.  I loved the idea of this product so much, but the actual practical use of it has disappointed me slightly.  My main complaint is sizing.  They sent me an XS initially, which I could fit on, but was very snug, and while it was not horribly uncomfortable right now, I could not imagine putting that on during those tender postpartum days.  They sent a S/M to try, since the first one was so snug, but it was a bit too big.  Again, it fit, but was not quite secure enough for me to feel really comfortable.  Upon comparision, they two sizes have about a 4 inch difference!!  Apparently my body fits somewhere inbetween that 4 inches, and since that is also the length of the velco, it was still too tight on the loosest setting of the XS and too loose on the tightest setting of the S/M.  I'm hoping that this oddity is unique to me.

Besides the sizing, I was satisfied with the product.  It didn't make all my dreams come true, but I can see it being a welcome cure for a pregnancy discomfort - especially if it is your first baby.  The wrap was simple to put on, extremely comfortable against my skin, and performed nicely in the shower.  It kept me well covered, protected, and comfortable.  Because the fabric is thin (though still substantial), it didn't fill up with water and become overly combursom, nor did it make me feel inadequately supported.  It did "stretch out" a bit (or maybe that was just my sizing issue again), and so I needed to wash it inbetween each use, but that's probably a good practice anyway.

Overall, I think this is a fantastic invention, and would make a great shower gift - especially from a mom to a daughter!!  While it isn't something that I think most women think about, it is something that it could definitely come in handy!  I, personally, think I'll be using it more to sleep in, than in the shower, because that's where my personal needs lie at this moment!  I love that it is versatile in this way and can transition with me!
