One Year Anniversary: Heart of Haiti - Shop for a Better World

Watching the news this morning, I gasped when I realized that today is the 1 year anniversary of the earthquake that devastated Haiti last year.  I cannot believe how quickly time has whipped by - and how incredibly ravaged the country still is!  The vast majority of citizens in Haiti are still living in tents, surrounded by rubble, thankful for food and fresh water when they can get it.  In our modern age, we expect that when a disaster happens and we mail in our check, the clean up will happen immediately and we can go about our lives, patting ourselves on our backs for a job well done.  I am very guilty of this.

Please, don't walk away.  You can continue to support the efforts in Haiti through several ways!  Heart of Haiti is a great example!  You can Shop for a Better World, as they say.  Through the efforts of this great organization, you can purchase hand crafted pieces that are made by people in Haiti and help support their families, communities, and country.

My favorite piece is this Watermelon Bowl for $16.  The best part is that by purchasing one of these handcrafted masterpieces, you're directly benefiting the Haitian artisan who made it.  Artisans receive 22 percent of the retail price for each item in the collection.

Find out more about the Heart of Haiti and how they're helping rebuild a nation through individual dignity and purpose.  You can help contribute by purchasing items from the Heart of Haiti - Shop for a Better World selection.  Be sure to get Free Shipping on $50 orders with promo code: ONEHEART.
