Winner of I AM on DVD + My Review of the Movie

Congratulations to our randomly selected winner, comment #3, Kim, who will be receiving I AM on DVD!  Thanks to everyone who entered!  Even if you didn't win, I would suggest that you consider renting (or buying) the movie.

I had a chance to watch I AM this past week and was surprised by how much I liked it.  I'm not typically a "religious movie" kinda girl.  Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of supporting Christianity in films & entertainment, but it is often done so poorly that I think it reflects badly on the Christian community as a whole.  I AM was slightly different.

Yes, there was a bit of bad acting at times, and the dialogue had a bit of cheese on top (if you catch my drift), but the movie (happily) didn't end with everyone on their knees, repenting, and praising God.  While that paints a lovely, and ideological, picture; it just isn't reality.  Sometimes God doesn't work so immediately, and sometimes our paths of following Him are a little more uneven.  I AM hit on some good topics, it challenged me in a few ways, but it wasn't so overtly literal that I was bored.  It widens the 10 Commandments so that you can get a clear picture of what the Lord meant -- that He wasn't just speaking of literal actions, but about our hearts, too!

So, with the holidays coming up, and the hustle and bustle of a busy season, take a few minutes to remember the One who lived that we might too!  And remember what that all means - that not only are we granted eternal salvation through His blood, but we are granted freedom in this life when we live by His Word!

Have you seen the movie?  I'd love to know your thoughts, too!

By the way, I had a good time (and a good laugh at times) reading your answers for what were the 10 Commandments.  So, I thought I post the CORRECT answers for you all to review (condensed version, for the full version, see Exodus 20):
  1. No other gods before God.
  2. Do not make idols or worship them
  3. Do not take the Lord's name in vain
  4. Keep the Sabbath Day holy
  5. Honor your father and mother
  6. Do not murder
  7. Do not commit adultery
  8. Do not steal
  9. Do not bear false witness
  10. Do not covet

* Fox Entertainment sent me a copy of I AM on DVD for review and is providing the winner with a copy of the movie as well.  All opinions are 100% my truthful assessment
