HELP! We’re Starting School in the Fall!

School Bus

Parent to parent, I need some advice!  We’ve been looking into local schools recently in anticipation of Bella starting K5 in the Fall.  I’ll be honest that homeschooling is just not something that the Lord has pressed on my heart at this time.  We’ve kept it as a “back-up” option, but were hopeful of sending Bella to a private school for at least the first few years.

Thankfully, the Lord has answered our prayers in an amazing way!  We think we’ve found the perfect school for our family and our children!

BUT – I want to know:

  • What do you wish you had known before you sent your kids to school?
  • Are there questions or concerns you wish you had asked (or that were imperative and you’re thankful you asked)?
  • What advice would you pass on to a first-time-to-school parent?

Any guidance, encouragement, or instruction you could lend would be gratefully received!!  I look forward to your input!

Don’t send your kids to private school. It is a waste of money and most private schools are not where they should be academically. Take the money you were going to pay for a private school and start a college fund. That way you will be giving your children a college education without them having huge student loans. I promise that they will be forever grateful that they don’t have to pay a mortgage payment for their student loans every month.

Thanks for sharing your opinion Bridget. I definitely think that any ol’ “private school” is not worth the expense, but I also think that careful consideration of any public or private (or homeschool) method & institution needs to be investigated and challenged against one’s personal convictions and family goals.

We’re still in the process of this investigation.
