Your Family Will “Love the Moment” at Virginia Beach

With Spring in full swing and Summer just around the corner, I’m sure that your family, like ours, is beginning to turn its attention towards vacation!  One of our favorite destinations is Virginia Beach!  Did you know that Virginia Beach is within a day’s drive or less for two-thirds of the U.S. population?!  It is only about 7 hours from where we are in PA, and since my sister and her family live there, we like to visit as often as possible!

Bella actually had her first beach experience at Virginia Beach back in 2008!  Even though she was less than a year old at the time, there was plenty to entertain her, and as our family has expanded and grown a bit older, we’ve never been disappointed with our adventures at Virginia Beach!

Whether visiting for your first time, or a native local, there is plenty for families to do in Virginia Beach.  Here are a few of our favorite attractions -

  • The Beach – families of all ages are sure to enjoy playing in the largest sand box ever; located where the surf meets the sand on the coast of Virginia Beach!  Take a blanket and a picnic for a relaxing afternoon of wave-watching, build a sand castle, bury a friend in the golden grains, surf the waves, or just let your feet play in the foam!  So much to do and it is all FREE!!
  • Virginia Aquarium – lose yourself in the 700,000 gallons of aquariums, live animal habitats, more than 300 hands-on exhibits, a nature trail, aviary and larger-than-life movies on a 3D IMAX® screen. Located at 717 General Booth Blvd, you can contact them in advance for tickets and attractions at 757-385-FISH.
  • First Landing State Park – take in the great outdoors at this state park with 19 miles of trails on 2,888 acres! You can boat, swim, hike, bike, picnic, and so much more!
  • The Boardwalk – with over 3 miles of shops, restaurants, attractions, and a wide open space to stroll, bike ride, or roller blade, one of my family’s favorite spots is The Boardwalk!  We love taking our bikes out for a spin, with the kids in tow in a bike-hitched stroller!  Fun for everyone!
  • Grommet Island Park – this 100% handicap-accessible oceanfront park makes it easy for everyBODY to enjoy a day at the beach!  This unique beach park is the first of its kind in America and sure to be a hit with your family!
  • Coastal Food Tours – as major foodies, we love the cuisine available along the shores and outlying areas of Virginia Beach.  Coastal Food Tours can help make your culinary experience guess-free and fabulous!

So this year, when planning your family’s summer escape, be sure to consider Virginia Beach!  Maybe we’ll bump into you on the boardwalk :)
