Are You Afraid of the Dark? (don't be)

Guillermo Del Toro: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark: Blackwood's Guide to Dangerous Fairies

Are you planning to see Don't Be Afraid of the Dark?  I know the movie might not be a top pick for everyone (and definitely not appropriate for everyone), but I heard a bit about the foundation and inspiration of the movie, which has piqued my interest and I actually started reading the book Don't Be Afraid of the Dark: Blackwood's Guide to Dangerous Fairies by Guillermo Del Toro this week (on my Kindle).  It is written in a similar manner to Bram Stoker's Dracula (one of my favorite books ever) in that it is written from a "real" standpoint, using journal entries, field guide resources, etc.  I love the writing, the format, and the story line so far.

I think there is a place for the imaginary in life.  While I do not, even a little bit, believe in ghosts or fairies or creepy things under the bed, I do love to read about the mysterious and fantastical from time to time.  I have not seen the movie yet, and am actually a bit worried that I'll be let down (since it is rated R, not my normal movie pick, and probably going to be more jump-and-scare than interesting-and-entertaining).  Still, I thought that the impressive and unexpected nature of the book was worth mentioning to you all, in case you were wondering :).
