Clever Kitchen: Deep Fried Oreos

by Alecia on September 3, 2011

We have been wowing our friends and increasing our waistlines for a few years now with Deep Fried Oreos! They are a great treat to make on a relaxing movie-night-at-home or when having guests over.  They are so easy and always sure to please everyone!

To make this really easy, I’ve mapped out the instructions for you and also did a video how-to of me making them!!

  • Ingredients -

1 c. Self-Rising Flour
1 c. Clear American Soda Water (any flavor)
Oreos
Oil for frying

  • Directions -

Heat oil in heavy-bottom pan on the stove or in the deep fryer to 375 degrees.  Mix flour & water together, whisk until a smooth but thick batter is created.  Dip Oreos, one by one, in the batter to coat and fry a few at a time in the oil, flipping after a minute or two, until light golden and crispy.  Transfer to a paper towel coated plate to cool.  Dust with powdered sugar and enjoy!

We used Clear American soda water for this recipe because we feel it is the best value – great taste for the perfect price!  We use Clear American for all kinds of summer drinks and treats – including homemade slushies, too! Just dump a bottle of Clear American in your ice cream maker, run until semi-frozen, and pour into cups! Another easy and tasty treat for your whole family!!  You can find Clear American at Walmart (in the bottled and flavored water section).  See more about my personal shopping experience buying Clear American for this recipe HERE.  You can also keep up with Clear American on Facebook and on Twitter.

HEY!! I was just getting ready to blog about this same thing :) I LOVE DEEP FRIED OREOS! But I do things a little differently. Use pancake batter, and add a fresh raspberry inside the oreo before battering & frying…seriously. just try it!

I'd never heard of them either and if I wasn't watching my weight I'd probably try them. Still might make them for the kids though. I love the Clear American slushie idea.
